A dry type transformer is a type of transformer which never uses any insulating liquid where its winding or core are immerged in liquid. Rather, the windings and core are kept within a sealed tank that is pressurized with air.

Types of Dry Type Transformers
The dry type transformer is of two types. They are

Cast Resin Dry Type Transformer (CRT)
Vacuum pressure Impregnated Transformer (VPI)

Outdoor Potential Transformer (PT)
Definition and Role: Voltage transformer (PT) is mainly used to convert high voltage into low voltage (usually 100V) suitable for instruments or relays, for measuring line voltage, power and electrical energy, or for protecting valuable equipment in the line in case of line failure.
